Birds: An Annotated Bibliography – Call for Recommendations

25 August 2015

Calling for recommendations for bird-themed picture books for the 2016 AFCC annotated bibliography!

Since 2013, the National Book Development Council of Singapore has published three themed, annotated bibliographies – Splash! Asia, All About Rice, and Forest of Stories – featuring children’s picture books about water, rice, and trees, respectively, at the Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC).

Many of the picture books featured in the bibliographies are published in Asia, or written / illustrated by an Asian. The bibliography is intended as a resource for parents and teachers who want to introduce these topics to their children.

For reference, the previous publications can be downloaded here: Splash! Asia | All About Rice | Forest of Stories

For AFCC 2016, the theme of the annotated bibliography is birds. We welcome you to recommend titles featuring birds in the story for inclusion in the 2016 bibliography.

Whilst we have mostly featured English titles, we also welcome books in Asian languages (please provide an English synopsis). If possible, we would welcome a donation of a copy of each recommended title to facilitate our classification of the book.

Information required for recommended title:

  • Book cover in high resolution JPEG
  • Title
  • Author
  • Illustrator
  • Publisher
  • ISBN
  • Year of publication
  • Synopsis in English (60 to 80 words)

Email your recommendations to Celine Chow at [email protected] Please remember that all recommendations should reach us by 23 September 2015.
