The Singapore Book Council (SBC) is an independent charity with IPC status. Established in 1968 to support Singapore authors and literature, SBC aims to Build Our Imagine-nation by developing creativity, imagination, original thought and empathy through writing, reading, illustration and storytelling. We are committed to developing the literary arts sector through our festivals, training workshops and courses, as well as book awards to recognise excellence.

Job Position: Marketing Manager

The Marketing Manager will be working in a dynamic, innovative and versatile environment, contributing to the common goal of promoting Singapore literature and writers. The manager will be involved in the marketing plans to achieve the overall objectives of SBC, as well as our signature programmes such as the Singapore Literature Prize; Asian Festival of Children’s Content; #BuySingLit; Open: Singapore Young Writers Lab; and SBC Academy.

The Marketing Manager will manage the day-to-day marketing activities of SBC and long-term strategy for the organisation.

Job Position: Programmes executive

The Programmes Executive will be working in a dynamic, innovative and versatile environment, contributing to the common goal of promoting Singapore literature and writers. INTERNSHIP

We look for interns who are able to commit full-time to a period of 3 to 6 months. The preferred windows are:

1. April to September 
2. October to March
Please indicate your preferred window and length of internship. We are open to other suggested windows as well, if they fit within our work calendar.

Marketing intern

The intern will be working in a dynamic, innovative and nurturing environment. As Singapore Book Council (SBC) is a growing organisation, the intern will have the opportunity to work on various aspects of running an arts organisation, including programming, marketing, publicity, and outreach.

In particular, the intern may work closely on a number of SBC’s events like our workshops and community outreach events, and our signature events, including Open: Singapore Young Writers Lab (formerly "All In! Young Writers Festival"), Singapore Literature Prize, Asian Festival of Children’s Content and BuySingLit.

Some of the intern’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to

The intern is expected to be able to work independently as well as collaboratively, as part of a team, be highly motivated, open to working in a flexible environment and keen to contribute.

It is preferable but not required that the intern has a passion for writing and books, and is bilingual (English and one of the official mother tongue languages).

The intern will report to the Marketing Manager.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer

We are actively seeking volunteers for our various festivals and programmes. Some of the skills that we need are:

  • Ushering, assisting with registration and event logistics, etc.
  • Event photography and videography
  • Emceeing for events
  • Design of publicity collaterals for events (e.g. posters, flyers)
